Hello Everyone!
It is Monday afternoon. It seems like I have been more occupied with arranging the funeral and burial of Elizabeth Enciu than any other responsibility. Someday, in eternity, we are going to enjoy a hearty laugh together over all the unusual twists and bizarre turns of her 12 day journey to the cemetery. Elizabeth worried that she had done everything she could to prepare for her funeral. And, except for an $8.50 permit, she had. Who could have known about the additional thrills included at no extra charge! Parts of this story are so incredible, I doubt that even Stephen King would believe me.
This morning, Pastor Rigsby officiated the graveside service, focusing most on our hope of resurrection, when our soul and our glorified body will be reunited. Like a therapeutic salve covering an open wound, ??Ǩ?Let not your heart be troubled??Ǩ??Ǩ soothed our souls. It was just the word from the Lord we needed to hear.
But the world doesn??Ǩ?Ѣt revolve around one funeral (that only happens in Rome). In our own little sphere of existence, it is easy to let the most pressing need squeeze out recognizing all the other blessings from God.
Yesterday, Sunday, Elida Hurtado, was so thrilled at what she had learned the day before, she needed to tell somebody. On Saturday, the Spanish congregation was involved in an all day ??Ǩ?seminar??Ǩ covering a variety of topics, including both biblical doctrines and practical subjects, for the entire family.
Elida apparently attended a workshop on ??Ǩ?What is Faith???Ǩ I say apparently, because, not only was I the ??Ǩ?somebody??Ǩ she told, she gave me the Spanglish version. I am sure I didn??Ǩ?Ѣt catch all of the explanation, but I got every bit of the beautifully animated description. All I know is that if I fall off the paper (which decreases in size with each step), I will be dead, unless someone asks, ??Ǩ?can I help you? Do you want to be saved???Ǩ
A translator, I am not. But this I know, faith had been presented to the conferees in such a fresh way that Elida was so encouraged, strengthened, and challenged??Ǩ?come Sunday morning, she was full and overflowing with joy. I suppose hearing her report was a thrill, of a different sort.
Someday, in eternity, Elida is going to tell me again what it was she learned. I??Ǩ?Ѣll even ask her to tell it to me in Spanglish, again. Then we are also going to enjoy side-splitting chuckles together at what I didn??Ǩ?Ѣt understand and how I just explained it to you all wrong.
Annie Johnson Flint??Ǩ?Ѣs unique verse hints at the world??Ǩ?Ѣs revolving around Jesus Christ, the One who teaches us in this life and is first to greet us in that life.
??Ǩ?His love has no limit; His grace has no measure; His power has no boundary known unto men. For out of His infinite riches in Jesus, He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again!??Ǩ
I think that in eternity??Ǩ?we will laugh a lot.
